25 Things I Never Get Tired Of

from Linzie Hunter’s fantastic collection at Thumbtack Press. I just received the print above in the mail this week.
Here’s a list of things I never get tired of, in no particular order:
1. good music
2. inspiration
3. spontaneous laughter
4. fresh baguettes right out of the bakery oven
5. butter
6. long hot baths
7. knock-knock jokes
8. the feeling I get when I open up a brand new bottle of ink
9. Dave’s crinkly-eyed smile
10. being freshly showered in a big fluffy white robe
11. room service
12. limes
13. talking to taxi drivers
14. going with my kids to the movies, even when the movies are silly or stupid
15. clean sheets and a freshly made bed
16. listening to people’s dreams (awake or asleep)
17. stories of life in faraway lands from friends I love with all my heart
18. the wide open blue sky
19. adventure
20. the color green (somewhere between a spring leaf and a ripe avocado)
21. honest tears
22. the way Madeleine’s face looks when she’s telling me her deepest, truest secrets
23. my toes in the ocean
24. the hot sun on my face
25. neighbors who feel like family
I really don’t want to put off my happy life in 2008. With any luck I’ll be sinking deeper into the magic right in front of me. How about you? Anything simple you never tire of? Any happiness you’ve decided to put off not one second longer?
December 30th, 2007 at 3:24 am
Yes, there is happiness I have decided to not put off one second longer - this comes with loss as well, as I am stepping away from one life and into another, but it is beautiful just the same.
thanks for always inspiring me to look at things in a new and more beautiful light.

Love this list! I echo so many of the same things
Simple things I cherish right now:
1. Warm flannel sheets with my cuddly husband
2. Living in the present moment (no striving, no resisting)
3. Slowing down to a manageable pace in life and really CHOOSING (for my highest good) how to spend my time and energy.
(Okay, maybe those last two aren’t so simple!)
4. Homemade cookies (from neighbors and loved ones).
5. Good, fresh, hot, strong coffee.
6. My two senior citizen cats (who love the new fleecy bed they got for Christmas!).
7. A fresh blanket of snow.
8. Watching birds and squirrels at my backyard feeders.
9. Discovering new, like-minded friends just around the corner!
10. The majestic full moon on a clear night.
Thanks, dear Jen, for your love and inspiration.
I wish you much peace and many blessings in 2008!
Hugs,
Lisa

Thank you, jen. Just the post I needed to pull myself out of post-Christmas blues — I’m not wanting to let go of the good and I’m constantly replaying the script”if I only I’d done this instead….”
So this WAS my head-space when I started my working on my list. I think I’m moving beyond Christmas 2007(hanging on to the good, though) and getting on with living my happy life — today — now — well, as soon as I send you my list of 10 simple things I never get tired of:
1) Talking to my mom on the phone everyday
Color
2) Piper (my Westie)
3) Full moons
4) The Beatles’ music
5) Whimsy
6) Great writing
7) Hikes in the mountains
9) Birds singing
10) Sunsets
I’m going to keep working on my list all day and will continue it on my own blog.

I’m going to now bake. I have people in my life who love my baked good.
And, do you know what I remember? That green izod that you would wear as a young person . . . only you could carry it off . . .

What a fabulous ‘feel-good’ find for the second day of the new year- I love your blog! If I needed inspiration for finding happiness in the new year, this is it- and it’s so true, happiness can be found in the most ordinary of places. We just have to open our eyes to it.
Thank you
And happy new year!

i love lists…
so i had to participate.
January 2nd, 2008 at 5:12 pm
Excellent reminder. More happiness being embraced by me this year — even if it kills me!
January 2nd, 2008 at 5:53 pm
I really want my happy life but I’m starting to wonder if my definition of happy is unrealistic.
Have you ever felt that way?
January 2nd, 2008 at 9:45 pm
Sometimes the pressure to be happy is overwhelming, like an impossibly large mission. But focusing on the things that already bring us joy is a good way to embrace happiness. My list of 25 is up over on my blog.

This made me smile, it reminded me of 20 years ago, when me and good friend of mine would send white index cards with what made us laugh/smile on them. Somedays the little envelope would cost me a whole 50 cents to ship!
Toes in the mud
and communities of loving woman were my 2 favorites….

I have to tell you, that one little phrase, “Don’t put off your happiness”, speaks volumes to me. I got out of a 5 year relationship that made me insane and dated someone shortly after that drove me even more towards hysteria. I have learned that my happiness comes from within myself and making myself happy. I love my alone time do to the things I want to do. Leave craft projects half done on my craft table and not worry about anyone putting their crap on it. I can have a clean house without stinky boys leaving dirty socks or guitar picks laying around. I get to be me without apology and no one else cares, not even the dog. So, my happiness is to be myself and not worry about anyone else, within reason, of course!! Happy New Year!

Jen,
I have been on vacation and sick with the flu so I need to get caught up with your blog BUT I wanted you to know that your comment on my blog yesterday MADE MY DAY! I find you so inspiring and I was so surprised and pleased to see that you had actually read what I had written and took the time to comment. It was a fabulous random act of kindness from you to me. Thank you!!!!! Oh and I was so darn happy I wrote about it on my blog today.

Hey, cool website. I actually came across this on Yahoo, and I am stoked I did. I will definately be returning here more often. Wish I could add to the conversation and bring a bit more to the table, but am just absorbing as much info as I can at the moment.
Thank You
