Sometimes Hope Can Really Knock Your Socks Off

I woke up to the sweetest email from my soulsister Krystyn Heide and a link to Brene Brown (new blog crush) and her blog Ordinary Courage. Go wander around and look for yourself, but Krystyn and I both have been wildly encouraged by the fact that people like Brene are in the world, thinking about hope and addressing in a thoughtful way our deep human need for connection.

Check out the video that Brene recently uploaded to her site–a lovely clip of young girls making hope notes for Houston after a reading group with their moms. If this doesn’t feel like a fortune cookie from the Universe, I don’t know what does. It works best if you take each message as if it were written for you personally.

I’ve been musing about Hope Note parties lately–wondering what would happen if I brought the kids, some cardstock and glitter pens to the coffee shop and invited passersby to join us in our hopeful adventures. After this, I might need to find out.

Krystyn has the scoop on hope notes over at HopeRevo. If you haven’t been over yet, prepare to be inspired!

I think you should consider encouraging your local readers who live in the neighborhood to join you in the love note adventure…folks who could then take some notes and deliver them to their own little corners of the world. Think about the hope that could be spread in just one day…

    Hi there!

You’ve got really nice friends - thanks for introducing us! I’ve received several emails from people who are planning their own Hope Note party (love that term from you post). I think leaving them is as joyful as finding them.
